The Coalition to Affirm Real Estate Ownership mentors people who are on the fringes of society, individuals who are coming back into the norm from alcoholism, drug abuse, prison, or homelessness. The method of mentoring is structured around the development of housing that will provide the individuals with a long-term, stable source of back-up equity and support. CARE Ownership purchases and rehabs multi-family homes in low income neighborhoods while mentoring individuals and teaching them the skills they will need to maintain the property and become its landlord. The individuals who are mentored receive free rent and eventually can purchase the home from CARE Ownership, providing them with long-term financial stability.
